Welcome!
Welcome to Miakoda Vizslas! We are located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL. I got started in UKC and AKC companion dog events (obedience trials) in 2001. In 2000, I obtained my first vizsla and started to compete in AKC confirmation, hunt tests and field trials. In 2006 I decided to try out APDT Rally Obedience trials! I am a member of Northwest Obedience Club, Vizsla Club of America, Vizsla Club of Illinois, Central Wisconsin Vizsla Club and Show Me Vizsla Club.
All my dogs are registered with AKC, UKC, APDT and NAVHDA. All my dogs are family companions that live indoors. There is nothing like a well trained dog as a family companion. Growing up I had English Springer Spaniels and German Shorthair Pointers. Because of my father’s influence all my dogs also hunt. Therefore in breeding my first litter of vizslas the primary goal is to produce dogs that are healthy, excellent family companions and good hunters. The goal of my breeding program is to produce dynamic dog that is true to the AKC breed standard and the original purpose of the breed. Any well-bred vizsla should be able to compete in companion dog events (i.e., obedience, rally, agility and tracking), but must retain those character that make the vizsla a gentleman’s hunting companion and family companion. To put it simply, form follows function; the vizsla was breed to hunt therefore those natural instincts and abilities need to be maintained.
