In the Beginning….

One day in the summer of 1997, I took Bonnie for a walk around the block. At one house, she pulled me to a fence where there was a rust colored pup! The pups name was Dancer and that’s how I met my first vizsla.  Bonnie & Dancer became friends and so did their owners. Bonnie earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen in 1998. During the next two years, I spent time learning more about Vizslas and in 1999 is joined the Northwest Obedience Club, Vizsla Club of America, Vizsla Club of Illinois and Central Wisconsin Vizsla Club. 

 I started my search for a breeding that would meet my needs/interests. I was looking for a pup to that could compete in the confirmation (show ring), obedience and hunt tests. I also wanted a dog that had ‘Dual Dogs’ in his pedigree. After much consideration I asked Maria Zucconi if I could take a pup from her second Chance & Vida breeding. So in April 2000, Gusto came home with me, by airplane from Las Cruces, NM to Chicago, IL.  

 There is a saying about vizsla’s “One is not enough! “ In 2003, I started looking for another vizsla pup, this time I wanted a dog with strong ‘dual dog’ pedigree that emphasized biddability(Trainability). So in 2004, I brought Jane home from Skip & Laurie Wonnnell of Remek Vizslas. I joined North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) in 2004.  Jane earned her AKC Junior Hunter title and NAVHDA Natural Ability test Prize III (98 points) in 2006. She also has been shown in AKC conformation and has 12 of 15 points towards her AKC Champion title.

We are starting a new phase in our journey.  Jane will be having her first litter in September 2008. You can learn more about this planned breeding on the Puppy Page.  After motherhood, Jane will be returning to the field to pursue her AKC Senior Hunter and obedience/rally titles.  I’d also like to see her earn her NAVHDA UPT title. Gusto is going to continue in obedience/rally events also. These dogs are a pleasure to live with and wonderful companions!
